If you are like me and you are ready to start ( or re-start) a pole dancing workout at home to get bikini body ready or just simply lose some extra weight, then this pole dance workout series will help. I need to lose some extra pounds and get back into shape as well so I’m sharing that process again : ) Many people think that because I am a healthy eater and fitness instructor that staying in shape is easier for me but that’s simply not my truth. Maybe it’s true for other fitness instructors but in reality, I’m a regular hard working woman behind the scenes running two business and struggle with eating healthy on the go and finding time to workout like many other women.
We all do this, I have had times where I partied and enjoyed myself by eating (and drinking) more than I should have. As a result, I have a higher body fat percentage than I prefer for the summer bikini. I don’t regret my past choices because I had fun and I have to live a little too, but I’m ready to get my body back and get back on track (again!) Haha!
Where do I start?
I am taking today (January 1st) to prepare. I did a quick pole dancing workout this morning so I could get a feel for where my strength was as well as how well I could remember the last pole dancing moves I was working on.
I feel the best way to start a pole workout plan is to just “wing-it” and try a 20-30 minute pole workout just to get a baseline for where you are mentally and physically. This will also help you become of any supplies you may need like pole cleaners or grip aids.
When you do a 20-30 minute workout, you will probably get struck with this feeling like “I don’t know where to start or what to do” That’s OK! It happened to me too and I’ve been dancing a very long time. Just fumble through it and do something (anything) anyways. If you bought a Pole Dancing Pole Kit, use the free pole dancing lessons for beginners included in the kit for a quick workout.
The reason you need to do this is so you can assess your strength AND become aware of you current needs. This will help you succeed in the future. And don’t worry if you lack the upper body strength to finish your workout! It’s normal.
Many people THINK they know what they want or need but in reality, needs and wants change over time (as do our goals). Most people aren’t really in touch with their own needs and desires in a genuine way because we are all worried about other things like kids and jobs.
So, do the workout as best you can with no expectations. Use it as a means to understand yourself. Get in touch with yourself and let this be some “ME” time. It’s the 1st, everything is closed for the Holiday and it’s the perfect day to plan the road ahead.
Here are some things I learned from my workout this morning:
- I’m not nearly as strong as I was last time I left off AND I discovered which moves I need to start working on again.
- I need to go shopping for things like Epsom salts (I’m going to be sore tomorrow), a swiffer for the floor (because I’m not letting a dirty floor deter me from a workout), and more dance pole cleaners and grip aids.
- I also realized that I am more likely to workout in the morning than the evening so I’m going to re-arrange my work schedule so I have the freedom to enjoy my morning workout without pressure and worries about work.
You will also need a clean eating diet plan tailored to you and your specific needs to get real results. You can’t out-exercise bad eating habits.
