How thick should my crash mat be?

It depends on your current pole dancing level, body weight, and future plans.

If you are a lower body weight and just learning with no immediate future plans to invert but just want some extra support while learning learning basic pole dance moves then a 1-2″ thick mat will do.

If you are planning to invert or are of a heavier body weight then a 4″ or thicker mat is recommended.

Remember, the higher you go on the pole with your with your inverting moves, the thicker your mat should be.

Stitching is also critical here, if you are just beginning and don’t use your mat much, a more simple standard crash mat will do.   If you are landing on your mat a lot or plan to buy a thicker crash mat, look for reinforced stitching that can handle lots of wear, plus these last longer over time.
